The first wedding date of the season is 21 November. A small, well-chosen kit saves last-minute running around.

Start with skin: a gentle cleanser, a moisturiser that suits you and a sunscreen for daytime functions.

For the face: one foundation in your matched shade, a compact for touch-ups and a long-wear kajal.

For lips: one everyday shade and one evening shade. Keep a tinted balm for the day after.

Pack tools last: a mirror, a sponge, pins and tissues. Try anything new at least a week before the wedding.
